Xantech Products Chosen for Locker Room Facilities at University of Illinois¹s Baseball Field |

CARLSBAD, CA, July 29, 2011 —
A major expansion of the locker room facilities at Illinois Field, home
to the University of Illinois baseball team, presented the Big Ten
powerhouse with an opportunity to also upgrade its installed training
and entertainment audiovisual systems. C.V. Lloyde, a Champaign,
Illinois-based design-build firm and full-service music retailer, acted
as both consultant and installer on the project, incorporating A/V
source selection and control hardware from Xantech, a leader in the
field of audio/video remote control and distribution for 40 years.
“Even
though this is a Division 1 collegiate campus, the budget for A/V was
quite modest,” reports Stephen Morris, president and CEO of C.V. Lloyde,
a family-run business that has been in operation since 1867. “Xantech
fit the bill – it addresses the financial constraints but also provides
flexibility and reliability.” The expanded facility opened at the start
of the new season in March 2011.
The
locker room construction provided training staff for the Fighting
Illini – the 2011 Big Ten Tournament Champions – with the opportunity to
implement new A/V systems for both instructional and entertainment
purposes, according to Morris. “The coach was excited to turn this into a
teaching venue and a locker room for the future,” he says. “A locker
room typically isn’t a place to hang out, but he wanted to make it a
local hangout for the players and to also use it for classroom
instruction and training.”
A
Xantech 6.4-inch CSPLCD64GW Smartpad LCD Graphic Touchpanel in the main
locker room manages selection of audio and video sources, including
DirecTV, video playback, multiple computers and various music sources,
such as CD, iPod docking stations and a radio tuner. Throughout the rest
of the facility, in the coach’s and umpires’ locker rooms, training
room, dry area and players’ lounge, C.V. Lloyde installed a D5SHK4
4-Source 4-Zone Wall Mount Kit from Xantech’s Digi-5 DDS digital
distribution and control system, which features keypads with digital
audio amplification.
“I
wanted to give them a control surface that felt relevant for today,
with color and multiple pages – one that was easy and intuitive for them
to operate, and could be installed on a budget. That’s why I felt the
Xantech color touchpanel was a good choice,” explains Morris, who notes
that the university has been one of the primary customers for C.V.
Lloyde’s design-build operation for over 20 years.
“A
projector on a lift in the main locker room drops down at the touch of a
button. We drop a screen, we drop down a projector, and we allow them
to project multiple different source selections. And all that control is
through the touch pad,” he adds.
To
support playback of training videos, as well as MLB game broadcasts for
motivation and entertainment, C.V. Lloyde installed two LG large-screen
HDTV displays and a retractable BenQ projector in the main locker room.
Two LG HD displays in the lounge can share the locker room video source
or can be locally selected to other sources, including a Sony PS3 video
game console and a Blu-ray Disc player. Seven full-range ceiling
speakers and a subwoofer in the locker room, and two wall-mount,
full-range speakers plus a subwoofer in the lounge, carry the audio.
For
the other rooms, which required basic volume control and selection
between multiple audio-only sources to a pair of ceiling speakers,
Xantech’s Digi-5 system was appropriate, continues Morris. “Each keypad
has a built-in 15-watt/channel amplifier, allowing us to be
self-contained with power and control all over CAT5 wiring, which
eliminated the need for long speaker wire runs. An easy, programmable
interface ended up being perfect for a simple audio solution that
addressed the budget constraints as well.”
In
order to distribute control and video signals between rooms while
maintaining 1080p quality, Morris also utilized a total of five Xantech
HDMIC5IR Point-to-Point HDMI and IR/CAT-5 extender baluns with IR wall
plates. “That allowed me to distribute high-def content over long
distances but also carry the IR control,” he elaborates. The system
enables local infrared control of the DirecTV boxes, which are located
in a central rack, from each TV display.
Having
less than two years of experience with Xantech products, says Morris,
he was grateful for the support provided by technical sales engineer
Dana Hathaway. “He was instrumental in making sure that we chose the
appropriate pieces for the system and helped explain, particularly with
the newer Digi-5 equipment, how that integrates.”
He
concludes, "My relationship right now with Xantech is also largely
because of the support of Director of Business Development, Rick
Seegull, and his team. They helped us deliver a very flexible system
that the University is proud of."

Xantech’s A/V control solutions are a hit for
buffalo wild wings IN BURBANK, CALIFORNIA
Download Press Release
INFOCOMM, ORLANDO, FL, June 15, 2011 — When the owner of a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant in Burbank, California, came looking for an effective A/V control system, Marco Ritzo, president of Advanced Concepts and Designs, a Las Vegas-based integrator, recommended a solution from Xantech (booth 1255), a leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution. The system cost a fraction of some competing products yet offers more features, according to Ritzo, who has installed similar Xantech solutions at over 15 other Buffalo Wild Wings locations.
“The owner wanted his staff to have a unified way to control everything A/V-related,” explains Ritzo. “That includes 50 TVs, 15 projectors, 12 cable boxes and DirecTV boxes. The owner’s first store didn’t have any of that control – they manually changed the channel on each DirecTV receiver, they went around the room with a remote turning TVs on and off, and then they went to their matrix router and dialed in the numbers – and did all of that by hand. It was not a great way to control the system.”
But traditional A/V control systems can be very expensive, Ritzo continues. “So we came up with a Xantech solution that didn’t cost thousands and thousands of dollars,” he says.
The system installed by Advanced Concepts and Designs at the Burbank restaurant utilizes the Xantech CSPLCD64G SmartPad Commercial 6.4-inch Touchscreen Display, a Xantech RT1610 16-port Addressable IR Router and Xantech 79000 Multiple Emitter Connecting Blocks. Ritzo notes, “That allows us to distribute IR and control to all the TVs, all the projectors, everything in the store. For us it was a very elegant, simple solution, and having worked with Xantech for a lot of years it was kind of a no-brainer for us. Those specific products that we use we find to be very, very reliable.”
Despite the cost savings relative to competing solutions, the Xantech setup offers unique functionality, according to Ritzo. “The feature that we call ‘all on/all off’ is something that for some reason our competitors did not offer – they didn’t offer a way to turn on all the TVs and turn off all the TVs at the end of the day. We’re able to control projectors, TVs, the rack, everything, and turn it off and on with one button, which was a feature our customer was looking for.”
Ritzo notes that by installing a solution from Xantech rather than a competing brand, Advanced Concepts and Designs is able to offer its customers a comprehensive control system that they otherwise would not be able to afford. It’s an added value that increases customer satisfaction without breaking the budget, he observes: “Normally a place like this would not install a $15,000 or $20,000 control system, so with Xantech we’re now able to offer them a system for a small fraction of that. It’s basically an add-on to the sale that makes the customer very happy.”
“These days audio/video is a must for all restaurant and sports bar applications,” stated Rick Seegull, Xantech Director of Business Development. “As this becomes the standard, cost of implementing the multitude of displays, projectors, screens sources, etc. soars, so the control system can easily break the bank. This could have been the case with Buffalo Wild Wings, yet Advanced Concepts and Designs turned to Xantech to provide their customer with a control system that offered functionality and was within their budget requirements. With Xantech Commercial’s diverse line, we can offer reliable, cost-effective control systems that make the system easy to use at any level while keeping the project within budget. From IR to IP and everything in between, no other company than Xantech offers the range of reliable products at affordable price points.”

Xantech DISPLAYS ITS new VCS1080 VIDEO SCALER
Download Press Release
INFOCOMM, ORLANDO, FL, June 15, 2011 — Xantech (booth 1255), a leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution, is displaying its Model VCS1080 nine-input presentation scaler/switcher for use in analog and digital video applications. Notes Xantech’s President Graham Hallett, “Higher-level video processing ability and agility are increasingly demanded in all types of commercial installations, from the boardroom to the classroom. With its comprehensive set of features and capabilities, our new VCS1080 ensures that system integrators can, when it comes to video processing and switching, remain with the first brand they trust for their control needs.”
The VCS1080 accepts NTSC, PAL and SECAM standard video in composite, S-Video or component video format, as well as JPEG inputs, via RCA, 15-pin HD, HDMI and USB connectors. On the audio side, the VCS1080 handles unbalanced stereo and S/PDIF audio signals. The user-friendly features can be controlled from the 1RU unit’s front panel buttons, IR remote with onscreen menus, or by using RS232 commands. A key feature is that the HDMI and VGA outputs are active at the same time – the benefit of two active outputs allows the user to distribute video to a projector and a flat-screen panel simultaneously. Applications include conference rooms, classrooms and other presentation systems.
The VCS1080 incorporates IDT HQV® video processing to ensure high quality scaling for large audience presentation applications requiring conversion and switching of multiple formats of standard- and high-definition video as well as graphic data signals. The HDTV-compatible and HDCP-compliant 1RU unit supports 720p, 1080i, and 1080p HDTV output resolutions. Glitch-free display is achieved through incorporated fade-thru-black (FTB®) technology, which fades one source to black and the next from black for a smooth, seamless switch between video inputs.
Flexible presentation capabilities include the positioning of any video or computer graphics video source as a picture-in-picture, picture-and-picture, or split screen display, with comprehensive window positioning and sizing control. Aspect ratio selection includes 4:3, 16:9, anamorphic, letterbox, plus user-definable settings. Freeze, zoom, selectable vertical refresh rates, text overlay, and slide show features are also provided.
Rear panel connections include four universal video input sources, each on three RCA connectors, two UXGA 15-pin HD computer graphics video inputs, and one USB connector for JPEG data. Composite, S-Video, and component (including HDTV compatible) video formats to NTSC, PAL and SECAM standards are all supported. Scaled video outputs are available on HDMI and 15-pin HD connectors. A full-featured remote control is also included.
Four unbalanced analog stereo or digital S/PDIF (32 kHz to 96 kHz sample rate) audio inputs accompanying the universal video inputs are each accommodated by two RCA connectors, with two 3.5 mm mini-jack stereo connectors available for the UXGA sources, all with individual level control. Audio outputs are on S/PDIF and stereo audio RCA connectors. All audio inputs are also transcoded and embedded onto the HDMI output.
Other features include adjustable audio delay, video source stabilization though time base correction, and optimization of video and audio inputs via the onboard ProcAmp. The Xantech VCS1080 also includes horizontal and vertical compensation control for off-axis projector placement.
Additional features:
- Includes the highest quality de-interlacing (with 3:2 & 2:2 pull down), noise reduction, and scaling performance for both standard-definition and high-definition signals.
- Supports HDMI 1.3 and HDCP.
- Video Inputs - 4 universal video (composite, S-Video, component) each on 3 RCAs, 2 computer graphics video (15-pin HD), 2 HDMI and 1 USB (for JPEG data).

TD BANK CONFERENCE CENTER LOCATION IN MOUNT LAUREL, NEW JERSEY, IS XANTECH’S TWO MILLIONTH INSTALLATION
Download Press Release
— Longtime Xantech users APA Music & Pictures, Inc. install WIC1200 and CWTC10 for training room and boardroom spaces for TD Bank, Xantech’s two millionth install —
INFOCOMM, ORLANDO, FL, June 15, 2011 — Mount Laurel, New Jersey’s Twelve Thousand Building Conference Center houses training room and boardroom spaces for TD Bank, and recently Bensalem, Pennsylvania-based firm APA Music & Pictures, Inc., through McHenry Creative Services, was charged with installing A/V control systems in the bank’s spaces. The project marks the two millionth installation of products from Xantech (booth 1255), a leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution, and further underscores the company’s position as the preeminent manufacturer of A/V control solutions. APA’s VP of Sales and Production, Dave Pedemonti, along with Lead Programmer Bob Balan and the rest of their team, selected control solutions from Xantech. APA has a long history as Xantech users, and they have been proud to push ahead with putting Xantech’s newest technologies to good use.
Xantech products, including the WIC1200 Web Intelligent Controller and CWTC10 10.4-inch Wireless Touch Controller, now form the foundation for the A/V distribution in several rooms in the building. Pedemonti stated, “We had a few different rooms – the boardroom space and training room spaces – and they needed to be ready for everything from PowerPoint presentations to audio and video conferencing. Obviously, we were dealing with multiple connectivity, and Xantech’s technology, which is based on IP addresses for different devices, was the clear choice. The CWTC10 is the ideal interface – it has a large touchscreen that is easy to read and operate, and it is wireless, so it can be moved around to whoever is running a meeting or training sessions. This is far preferable to an in-wall box.”
Pedemonti continues, “When we decided on Xantech products for this installation and reached out to them, they shipped us the units right away, and we worked together closely through the installation phase. Now we have four of those CWTC10’s up and running, and they have worked perfectly. The client is very happy, and we are happy to once again choose Xantech solutions for a key installation.”
APA’s relationship with Xantech goes back several years. Mr. Pedemonti stated, “We were probably one of the first A/V companies to really start working with the technology that they created. Through the years, we have been involved in beta testing for some of their new products, getting a good sense of the best ways to put these groundbreaking technologies to good use, and giving our input back to them. That’s a great approach – letting real users in the field give feedback on the product and help make it the best it can be. We’ve been lucky to forge such a strong relationship with Xantech, and we use their products whenever we can. And thinking of what Xantech’s competitors offer, what it really boils down to is value for dollar – we can install the CWTC10’s for about a quarter of the cost of a comparable product from other competitors, and plus, the CWTC10 is actually a far more versatile control device, because you can control so many different types of things. Additionally, we were able to design and implement the customized web control page using Xantech’s new Web Designer 3.0 Software. They have helped us create some very outside-of-the-box installations, and we’re extremely proud to be their two millionth installation. We, look forward to utilizing their products for years to come.”

MX88 MULTI-ZONE AUDIO/VIDEO CONTROLLER
Download Press Release
— Xantech Quick Configuration software is designed to meet the needs of the new custom installation market, enabling the Xantech MX88 to be set up instantly without any computer programming —
INFOCOMM, ORLANDO, FL, June 15, 2011 — Underscoring its commitment to developing meaningful innovations that provide simple solutions for installers and end users alike, Xantech (booth 1255), the company that invented the concept of extended IR control for audio/video systems, today introduced its Xantech Quick Configuration software installation/configuration mode for its MX88 IP-enabled multi-zone audio/video controller. Quick Configuration eliminates the tedious programming process that can literally take days with other supplier’s products, and reduces it down to as little as 10 minutes. By employing Quick Configuration software, the installer can instantly configure the MX88 for multiple zones and sources throughout a residence without the need of an external computer to program the system. The MX88 can be used to control every aspect of the home theater including audio/video, lighting and drapes. Additionally, it can be programmed to control the air conditioning/heating system, home security and video surveillance cameras.
Xantech President Graham Hallett stated, “For the past 40 years, Xantech has been and continues to be at the forefront of control technology and how it shapes, and is shaped by, industry trends. We are now seeing increasingly complex A/V and IT systems in a growing number of places, and simpler, more intuitive control solutions and setup protocols are an absolute necessity. As A/V control systems evolve, Xantech continues to give users products that make their lives easier. Whatever your system components, you turn it on; we make it work.”
Quick Configuration mode lets installers do all programming of sources and zones directly via the MX88’s keypad or Xantech’s new SmartPanel™ LCD touchpanels. For the home theater, sources can include Xantech audio/video components or those from other manufacturers. Quick Configuration also easily configures sources that have metadata, so information such as song title, artist and genre is clearly displayed.
Unlike other installation/configuration software of this caliber, absolutely no separate PC is required. It is extremely intuitive and straightforward, guiding the installer one-by-one through the system components and manufacturer codes, much like programming a universal remote control device. With Quick Configuration software, the MX88 is usable out of the box, as it requires far less setup and configuration time than other protocols, and no additional time needs to be spent mastering the software. The software also configures the MX88’s iPad interface, further enhancing the unit’s capability.
About the Xantech MX88 Multi-zone Audio/Video Controller
The MX88 allows a user to control an entire Xantech multi-zone audio/video system using an Apple iPad®. An integrated audio/video distribution and control tour-de-force, the network-ready MX88 combines a 50W x 16-channel/8-zone amplifier and highly efficient auto-sensing universal power supply with advanced automation control capable of up to 16 Serial ports with the use of Xantech’s RS232 1x8 serial routers, and 17 selectable IR ports, as well as IP communication and two-way interface with an iPhone®, iPod® touch or iPad.
Xantech’s iPad integration approach uses an existing WiFi network to interface the MX-series controller to the iPad (or any networked web-browsing device), serving up a web application embedded in the MX88’s architecture. System control and status monitoring can all be accessed within a wired or wireless immediate LAN environment, or remotely over the Internet. Full metadata, menu navigation and even content graphics and album art are all transitioned from media source to the iPad through the Xantech audio/video controller itself. The MX88 is perfect for residential or commercial multi-zone control applications.
As impressive as the MX88’s audio and video performance is, the controller excels in another performance parameter so vital today: environmental friendliness. The MX88's engineering and design incorporate a wide range of technical improvements to make it a leader in the area of a more eco-friendly, ideal power consumption-versus-output ratio. The unit is built around an exceptionally intelligent and highly-efficient “greener” power supply with 100V-240V automatic voltage selection and advanced low-power consumption mode. On-board Intelligent Power Management circuitry provides positive external device control (through video and current sensing) over all 8 source input components connected to the unit, enabling the MX controller to manage the status of any of them — turning them OFF when not needed, for example. The controller’s all-digital amplifier section is a model of conservation, operating at nearly three times the power and heat efficiency of conventional audiophile amplifier circuits while maintaining full fidelity.

XANTECH INTRODUCES Web Designer 3.0 Software
Download Press Release
— Xantech continues to develop market-driven products that provide
contractors and system integrators complete control solutions —
INFOCOMM, ORLANDO, FL, June 15, 2011 — Xantech (booth 1255), a leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution, introduces its Web Designer 3.0 software. The new “drag and drop” software allows contractors and system integrators to design their own custom web control pages that can be stored and served up from within Xantech’s WIC1200 Web Intelligent Controller and then exported remotely to any network/web-based control device, like Xantech’s CWTC10 10.4-inch Wireless Touch Controller. Additionally, because the WIC1200 is a network/web-based control device, the custom design web control pages can easily be used on any web-enabled device/tablet, including the popular Apple iPad®.
Last year Xantech introduced the CWTC10, which gave contractors and system integrators a Wi-Fi tablet interface that harnessed all the power within the WIC1200. The launch of the new Web Designer 3.0 software expands on the WIC1200’s functionality, as it easily allows the contractor or system integrator to create stunning web pages that can further tailor the clients’ tablet interface for their specific needs. “For the first time, the integrator can custom-design the display of the interface and add the additional functions the client is requesting,” stated Rick Seegull, Xantech Director of Business Development. “The best part is, because it is drag and drop, our Web Designer software is extremely easy to use, and once the web control page has been designed, it can then be uploaded to the customer’s location remotely.”
About the WIC1200 Web Intelligent Controller and CWTC10 Wireless Touch Controller
The WIC1200 Web Intelligent Controller is a stand-alone room controller for networked/web-based control featuring two IR Ports, two Serial ports, two Contact Closure ports and two Digital I/O ports as well as two Ethernet ports (one with POE) for TCP/IP Telnet control with less intrusion into facility IP networks. On its own, the Web Intelligent Controller is an Event-driven component capable of Timed Events, Calendar Events, Telnet and Serial Events and features a full FTP site, Web server and email server. With its built-in Web server, the WIC1200 is totally iPad-ready without the need for purchasing, installing or setting-up an “app.” When interfaced with Xantech’s CWTC10 10.4” WiFi touchpanel or XTR39 Wireless RF Remote (or Apple’s iPad), the WIC1200 Web Intelligent Controller can send messages back to the touchpanel, allowing for text display, numeric display, volume and indicator bars, ON/OFF indicators and more, for full real-time data display.
Xantech’s CWTC10 10.4” WiFi touch panel is the logical addition to the WIC1200 Web Intelligent Controller. Rounding out the system, the CWTC10 provides a full 10.4” wireless control panel perfect for any Conference Room application. Running Windows CE in Kiosk mode, the CWTC10 provides full PC power with a large full-color vibrant control panel interface. When used with (but not limited to) Xantech’s WIC1200 Intelligent Controller, the CWTC10 is the perfect user interface for controlling A/V Teleconferencing systems with a large but not overbearing easy-to-use 10.4" display. Since it runs on Windows CE and is fully Web capable, the CWTC10 is an ideal platform for utilizing any Macromedia Flash Web-enabled control page, which can be served using the WIC1200 or any Web server on the network. Made of durable water resistant plastic, the CWTC10 has a built-in kickstand.

XANTECH CONTINUES TO EXPAND IR LINE WITH THREE NEW PRODUCTS
Download Press Release
— Three new systems provide contractors and system integrators complete control solutions for projectors, conference/class rooms and large venues alike —
INFOCOMM, ORLANDO, FL, June 15, 2011 — Xantech (booth 1255), the company that invented the concept of extended IR control for audio/video systems, is expanding its line of IR products to include the new CIRP (Projector IR Control), CIRS (Conference Room/Classroom Control) and CIRV (Large Venue IR Control) kits. The announcement was made by Rick Seegull, Xantech Director of Business Development, and further enhances Xantech’s position as the leader in audio/video remote control and distribution.
Developed with direct input from leading contractors and system integrators, Xantech’s new IR systems are specifically designed to address typical challenges facing installers today, including IR operation with plasma or LCD TV’s; interference from CFL (compact fluorescent lighting) and sunlight; and distance limitations within a single kit. These kits are specifically geared for use in classrooms, conference rooms, houses of worship etc., and engineered for the utmost in reliability.
Two of the systems come with an amplified connecting block, which allows the connection of Xantech IR receivers and 10 emitter ports, thus interfacing IR control with the audio/video equipment. Having the amplified connecting block is key for reliable transmission of IR signals over great distances, making sure IR signals are delivered un-obscured to the intended devices. Additionally, each system includes the WallLink™ (WL) in-wall version of Xantech's Universal IR receiver, which is designed to reject interference from Plasma, LCD, LED Displays and Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) from entering the IR signal line. The WL85 or WL95 mounts easily into a single-gang electrical J-Box, is supplied with mounting screws and comes with a Decorator-style insert, allowing the installer to use a Decorator-style wall cover plate. This provides an integrated look for control of A/V equipment behind closed doors or any IR Repeater System that is in close proximity to light sources described above.
The CIRP Projector IR Control kit allows control-accurate IR control of a single projector while giving the operator the flexibility to point the IR remote towards viewing area, rather than directly towards the projector. The WL85 version of the WallLink IR receiver easily installs into a single-gang electrical box, so it can be installed by any electrical contractor and allows for reliable projector control of the user up to 80 feet away from the IR target.
The CIRS Conference/Classroom IR Control kit is designed for control of several audio/video devices that might not necessarily be in one central location. The CIRS comes with the WL85 IR receiver and adds the 79144 amplified connecting block, allowing the installer to extend the emitters up to 100 feet to various locations, thus letting the user control multiple devices in different areas of the room.
The CIRV Large Venue IR Control kit is designed for the installer who needs IR control of the audio/video system, with the IR remote to be operated a great distance from the components and the IR receiver. The CIRV comes with the WL95 and amplified connecting block, which safely allows use of the remote up to 120 feet from the IR target, plus an extra 600 feet of overall distance from the target to the connecting block and 100 feet thereon after, for a total of 700 feet coverage for all of these components. For control of multiple components that are located throughout a very large room, the CIRV provides flawless IR control of the audio/video components.
“Our new IR systems are designed to cover any type of job the installer may be working on,” stated Rick Seegull. “Additionally, because the new CIR IR Control kits are so easy to install and cost effective, integrators and consultants will have no problem making sure some form of Control System can be specified and installed on any A/V conference/classroom system. And most importantly, like all Xantech audio/video control systems, they perform flawlessly.”

XANTECH MARKS 40 YEARS OF INNOVATION AND TWO MILLIONTH INSTALLATION MILESTONE AT INFOCOMM 2011
Download Press Release
— Pioneer of “hidden electronics” surpasses two million installations and reaffirms
commitment to innovation with major new product introductions for
both the commercial and residential markets —
— “You turn it on. We make it work,” promises Xantech President Graham Hallett —
INFOCOMM, ORLANDO, FL, June 15, 2011 — Underscoring its commitment to providing commercial and residential dealers and installers with the broadest array of the critically important “hidden electronics” that make other electronics work, Xantech (www.xantech.com) marked 40 years of innovation and its two millionth installation milestone at InfoComm 2011, with the introduction of a new generation of A/V control system solutions at Booth #1255 in the Orlando Convention Center.
“From IR to IP, no other company even comes close to offering the range and depth of control solutions that we do,” asserted Xantech President Graham Hallett. “For 40 years Xantech has worked closely with custom installers and consultants to develop unique insights into the design, integration and control of a wide variety of A/V systems in every conceivable kind of commercial and residential installation. This is why so many designers and installers begin and end every project with Xantech. Put simply, we make everything they need to make everything else work! That’s why, to date, Xantech solutions are featured in more than two million installations worldwide.”
This relentless commitment to innovation is evident everywhere at Xantech’s InfoComm 2011 booth, where the company is showcasing, among other solutions, additions to its WIC1200 Web Intelligent Controller, which integrates numerous Xantech technologies into one versatile system with multiple RS232 ports, IR ports, relays, digital I/Os and two discrete LAN ports. “It’s designed from beginning to end to keep any conference room, classroom or corporate A/V system in full control, either on its own or through any web-enabled device,” explained Xantech Director of Business Development Rick Seegull. “And now, with our new Xantech Web Designer Software, integrators can easily create web control pages to be served by the WIC1200 onto iPad®s, tablets or any web enabled appliance for seamless control.”
When interfaced with Xantech’s CWTC10 10.4” WiFi touchpanel or their new line of SmartPanel LCD Controllers (or Apple’s iPad), the WIC1200 Web Intelligent Controller can send messages back to the touchpanel, allowing for text display, numeric display, volume and indicator bars, ON/OFF indicators and more, for full real-time data display.
Equally innovative is the Xantech ISM4 Intelligent System Manager, which automatically monitors and controls the power states of up to four IR components. “Customers simply have to turn on their display device and the ISM4 does the rest,” Seegull explained. “It powers up each individual component and makes sure they all stay in sync. It features full IR and RS232 for control; monitoring; and sensing audio, video, current, light, voltage or any heartbeat of any type in a single unit.”
For the residential market, Xantech is also introducing a number of new products. “Xantech has a solution for every level of home control, from the single room home theater, to multi-room flexible control, to whole home automation,” Hallett emphasized.
The BDXTT Bluetooth® Interface provides a full-fidelity, reliable wireless connection between an A/V system and any handheld Bluetooth A2DP-enabled device such as a smartphone, iPad, PC or tablet — wherever consumers store and manage their music and media.
The DinkyLink DL85K is Xantech’s most versatile IR control kit and works with all TV’s and lighting up to 80 feet. Unlike other IR repeater systems, it works with plasma, LCD or LED TVs; with compact fluorescent lighting (CFL); and with all satellite and digital cable boxes.

XANTECH SETS NEW STANDARDS, MEETS
NEW CHALLENGES IN IR CONTROL WITH NEW SERIES
|
|
— New Red/95, Green/85
and Blue/25 series IR kits keep customers on the cutting edge
with Xantech IR control —
|
|
SYLMAR, CA, July 21, 2010 — Xantech Corporation,
the company that invented the concept of extended IR control for
audio/video systems, is once again setting the standards for excellence
in that area to keep up with the continuous changes occurring in A/V
technology and living styles in the form of an entirely new line of
products: its Red/95, Green/85 and Blue/25 series.
“Change is the one constant in both the audio/video
industry and our lives,” commented Xantech President Graham Hallett.
“Changes in entertainment systems range from flatscreen panels to
all-digital TV content delivery, and now 3D is part of the mix. Changes
in how we live include sweeping progress in energy efficiency and
greater demands on living spaces. All this, in turn, places greater
demands than ever on IR control systems. As the pioneer and leader in
that field, Xantech has the special responsibility of continuously
advancing the state-of-the-art. Our new series does exactly that for IR
control, and sets the new standard for the rest of the industry.”
Continued Hallett, “What that means for installers
putting in A/V systems is this: everything they need to stay at the
leading edge of IR control technology comes in a single box from
Xantech. And if they ever encounter an IR problem that Xantech can’t
solve, nobody can. It’s that simple”
The trends Hallett speaks of are:
- Interchangeability of plasma and LCD TV’s —
Today, many consumers are purchasing their second, third or fourth
flat-screen television. An IR kit needs to work flawlessly with both
plasma and LCD models. Previously, IR repeater systems used to be
designed for only one or the other.
- Energy efficiency — compact fluorescent lighting
(CFL) has become standard in nearly every home and business. CFL’s
pump out considerable light interference, making them incompatible
with some IR systems.
- Surge in digital entertainment delivery — more
homes are connected to digital cable and satellite TV boxes than ever
before. Not all IR repeater systems are compatible with all of these
components.
- Changes in lifestyles and living spaces —
although new construction of dedicated home theater spaces has taken a
downturn, interest in consumer electronics is stronger than ever,
and so is interest in hiding audio/video components and controlling
them remotely. An IR repeater system is expected to do more system
control “heavy lifting” than ever before.
Xantech’s new IR systems are designed for this
challenging new environment. Explains Mark Cerasuolo, Xantech’s Director
of Marketing, “We now differentiate the kits by range and sensitivity
instead of by type of television, and we simplified the selection
process through our three-tier color-coded packaging system. Our Red/95
series has our highest level of interference-rejection circuitry,
working with all types of TV’s and lighting at ranges up to 120 feet.
Our Green/85 series is our most versatile kit, and works with all TV’s
and lighting up to 80 feet. And our Blue/25 series is an outstanding
value in IR control when the need is simply to control a traditional TV
display under traditional lighting conditions.”
For the 95 and 85 series, Xantech delved into five technology
elements to perfect IR for the next generation of entertainment
systems: Error Correction circuitry ensures the
most faithful reproduction of the original IR signal that present
technology allows. Automatic Gain Control (AGC) circuitry allows a Xantech IR receiver to constantly study the ambient light
level and automatically re-calibrate its own sensitivity to more
accurately discriminate the correct signal and reject unwanted
noise. Sophisticated Adaptive Filtering circuitry enabling the receiver to more electively “look” at
an IR source while rejecting unwanted frequencies. Native
Carrier Frequency Transmission circuitry (95, 85 &
25 series) to accurately process the original “pure”
carrier frequency, eliminating noise and interference, and transmitting
the original IR signal in its correct form to the rest of the
system; In addition, the 95 series packs an oversized
IR element, giving it a wider operating window, better
off-axis response and longer range — perfect for larger
living environments, or in conditions with unusual amounts of
light interference. Finally, the overall build quality (95, 85 & 25 series), as Xantech using the highest quality
components and precision manufacturing separates Xantech from
competitive IR products.
The three new lines of IR kits are available with four
receiver styles to fit practically any control application. The DL/Dinky
Link surface-mount is the industry's best-selling design for easy,
unobtrusive mounting on any TV set frame or other component, and is now
available with color-change sleeves for unobtrusive mounting on black,
white or silver units. The HL/Hidden Link Designer-style receiver is a
tabletop design for placement on entertainment equipment racks or
components and is also available in black, white or silver. The ML/Micro
Link peephole or bullet design is intended for in-wall or in-ceiling
installations, and in speakers with a suitable knockout feature, and
ships with brass, white and black bezels for easy concealment. Lastly,
the Decora®-style receiver is intended for low-voltage mounting bracket
or J-Box installations for in-wall retrofit or other applications.
“According to a recent industry survey, nearly half of
all integrators cite Xantech as their choice in IR,” says
Cerasuolo. “Our Dinky Link IR receiver has been the go-to
control product for custom installers for 20 years. With the introduction

XANTECH PRODUCTS SELECTED FOR A/V CONTROL AT
TALLAHASSEE’S FOUR OAKS COMMUNITY CHURCH
|
INFOCOMM, LAS VEGAS, NV, June 9,
2010 — Managing a house of worship A/V system incorporating
components such as cameras, projectors, screens, LCD monitors, cable
boxes, DVD players and audio equipment can be a daunting task for even
the most technically proficient church volunteer. In order to simplify
A/V system control for its clients, design/build specialist Music Masters, located in Tallahassee,
Florida, has selected a wireless control solution from Xantech Corporation, a
leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution for
40 years.
Most recently, the design/build team led by Les
Stephenson, a veteran of more than two decades with Music Masters,
incorporated a pair of Xantech XTR39 hand-held LCD touchscreen remotes
and a handful of RF2IR base station receivers into an A/V installation
at the nearby Four Oaks
Community Church. The Xantech ZigBee-based (IEEE802.15.4) remote
control system allows users to activate or reset all or part of a
multi-component A/V system with the press of a single button. “We’ve
used this product quite a few times,” stated Stephenson. “We know it, we
know how to program it, and it works.”
An XTR39 wireless remote located in the sanctuary at
Four Oaks Community Church additionally controls equipment in the green
room and the cry room. “Any member of their team can come in and pick up
the XTR39 and hit the power button, hit the ON icon, and everything is
set up and they’re ready to go,” Stephenson explained. “We also wanted
to be able to take control of each of the projectors individually. We
built a control page for each projector and we built a control page for
each TV. So you can sit at the mix booth and you can adjust the left,
the center or the right projector independently.”
The second XTR39 remote, in the youth room, resets the
A/V components for various applications, including presentations,
meetings and sanctuary overflow. A presenter need only press the
macro-based button labeled “Presentation” and the system reconfigures
accordingly. “He can put his DVD in the DVD player, put a lapel mic on,
turn the body pack on and he’s good to go,” Stephenson elaborated. “Then
he runs the DVD player from the XTR39, and when he’s done he hits the
OFF button and everything turns off and the screens go back up.”
Pressing the “Overflow” button on the XTR39 automatically resets the
room: “The audio is correctly patched and the levels are set, the
screens come down and the projectors turn on.”
The XTR39 includes a 3.9-inch full color touchscreen
display for the fully customizable button and icon layout. The remote
includes hardware buttons for frequently used commands while less
frequently used soft buttons may be hidden away on multiple screen
pages. “We replaced all the remote controls for all their devices, so
it’s all built into one remote. You’re not looking through a drawer full
of remotes, you just grab the one,” he commented.
The RF2IR2W receiver translates the XTR39’s radio
frequency commands, which can pass through walls, into the IR and RS232
signals appropriate for each electronic device in the system. “You don’t
even have to point it at the device,” he said. “That’s pretty cool.”
Each RF2IR2W Base Station has four selectable IR ports and a
bi-directional RS232 port. The XTR39 remote can communicate with over
200 uniquely addressed RF base stations allowing for a very large
flexible control system.
Stephenson summarized, “Xantech just makes it so easy.
Clients can simplify the operation of all their equipment so they don’t
have to have a two-page checklist for how to turn each thing on and how
it needs to be set up. We’ve set up presets using the XTR39 that turn
everything on and off and set the system up for how they need it to be
on Sunday morning in a few churches now. We’re using the product in a
variety of applications – anywhere we need something that is
customizable and that’s going to be easy to use.”

|
INFOCOMM, LAS VEGAS, NV, June 9,
2010 — When Just George’s,
the sports bar connected to the Captain George’s Seafood
Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, needed a way to let
each booth control its own A/V content, they turned to Virginia
Beach-based Fidelity Sound
Reinforcement. Fidelity selected innovative solutions from Xantech Corporation, a
leading producer of innovative, reliable and problem-solving custom
installation signal processing and control systems.
Mike Phillips, Project Manager and Audio Engineer at
Fidelity, which did the system design and integration at the sports bar,
chose the Xantech LM110RP
Smartpad3 Single Gang Keypad Controller to enable the system to
allow patrons at each booth in the lounge to control their own A/V
content. In addition, the Xantech CSPLCD64
Commercial Touchscreen Display was also integrated into the system.
Fidelity Sound Reinforcement installed a dozen LM110
push-button controllers in the lounge, one at every booth. The LM110
offers those seated in the booth the ability to call up any channel from
DirecTV, including the channel guides and pre-selected sports channels,
as well as control over the volume of their display. Additionally,
staff can also customize the experience by choosing which sports events
are on any of the ten 52-inch LCD displays placed throughout the lounge,
which are controlled using Xantech’s standalone CSPLCD64 Commercial
Touchscreen Display.
This level of individual customization of the lounge
patron’s experience is unheard of and only possible thanks to the
reliability and high degree of programmability of the Xantech
controllers, which replaces products from another manufacturer that
Phillips says had a history of crashing the system. “Now it’s a place
where if somebody wants to see any sporting event -- football, baseball,
hockey, NCAA -- they’ve pretty much got it,” says Phillips. “The LM110s
are standalone units; there’s not a single processor that drives all
those booths. We love that type of individual control. And we have cable
as a back-up and that is controlled with the touch panel also.”
Phillips was pleased with how easily the Xantech
equipment was programmed and how well it’s performing. “The Xantech
installation was pretty simple and trouble-free,” he says. “Everything
that controls the video in that restaurant is Xantech, and the customers
and employees have been really pleased with it.”
