The Gatekeep-IR is a modular control system that can sense current, audio, video, temperature, light and voltage. These modular sensors can be used to manage power and/or selectively control components in a home theater or whole house audio/video system. Through the use of the SmartPad₃ keypad, or some other brands of IR sequencing hand-held or in-wall controllers, the system can monitor and control all source components, keeping them in the correct power state, regardless of their pre-existing condition. The IR codes of system components are tailored by giving them unique IR code prefixes. These IR code prefixes act as KEYS that only GATES in certain states will pass. These GATES are located in each of the Sensing Modules. The tailored IR codes are stored in the hand-held or in-wall controllers as sequenced commands.

The Smart Router feature, gives the capability of independently controlling two or more same brand source components such as VCR's or DSS receivers. Again, this is done by tailoring the IR codes to make each one unique. For example, DSS-1commands would have one particular prefix, and each DSS-2 would have another set of codes with a different prefix for each command. One Sensing Module (listed below) would be used for each component.

SENSING MODULES

GMB9 - 9 space Mounting Bracket holds 1 Master Module and up to 8 Sensing Modules.

GMB2 - 2 space Mounting Bracket holds 1 Master Module and 1 Sensing Module.

GMM1A - Master Module. Provides power and sends IR codes to the various Sensing Modules via an IR and Power buss cable that runs from the Master Module to the Sensing Modules installed in either of the two Mounting Brackets.

GCM1 - Current Sensing Module. The most used of all the modules. This module senses the power state of the component by detecting the difference in current drawn by the component when its either ON or OFF. Also available in International Version.

GLM1 - Light Sensing Module. Useful in determining a source component's power state by detecting the power status light. Also, useful in determining what source has been selected on certain brands of receivers or preamps that feature source select LED's. Can be used whenever any kind of light, including sunlight, is sensed to set the Gatekeep-IR to a pre-determined mode.

GAM1 - Audio Sensing Module. This module detects an audio signal and uses this information to set the Gatekeep-IR's mode.

GVM1 - Video Sensing Module. This module detects a video signal & uses this information to set the Gatekeep-IR's mode. Useful in detecting whether a VCR is ON or OFF.

GTM1 - Temperature Sensing Module. Senses temperature change (approx. 30ºF-100ºF.) Can be used to activate a cooling fan or shut components off.

GS1 - Empty protective slot cover for the GMB9.

GEM1 - Voltage Sensing Module.Senses 5 Volts (@ 5 mA) - 30 Volts (@ 30 mA), AC or DC.
